CHILDRENS EDUCATION IN AFGHANISTAN
The initiating project to launch MakeAnImpact was in collaboration with The Children of War Organization, which is based in Afghanistan.
On August 26th, 2020, a flash flood in Northern Afghanistan’s Parwan province not only killed dozens and destroyed hundreds of homes, but left many families struggling to find food, shelter, and provide for their children. In hopes of creating a positive impact during these times of need MakeAnImpact decided to help provide these children with new school material!
The donations included all school essentials and more! (Pens, pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, various types of notebooks, and sanitizers)
HAWTHORNE PLACE CARE CENTRE PROJECT
With September 2020 marking the 6-month anniversary of the Coronavirus Outbreak in Canada, MakeAnImpact decided to provide a local senior care centre with Covid-19 care packages.
The Hawthorne Place Care Centre is a facility that strives to provide comfort and care for the elderly. While acknowledging elderly peoples elevated risk of illness and death from the coronavirus, we wanted to make an impact by providing the facility’s residents and staff with covid-19 essentials to keep safe!
Our care packages included baskets filled with boxes of masks, gloves, and sanitizers.
KABUL BLEEDS PROJECT
Following the recent attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan, MakeAnImpact decided to raise awareness about the tragedies people in Afghanistan experience. A fundraiser was put together to support 2 recent attacks.
The first tragedy targeted was the suicide bombing that occurred in the education centre in Kabul, Afghanistan, which was in the predominantly Shia-Muslim Dasht-e-Barchi area. At least 24 people were killed in this horrific attack.
The second attack was the most recent shooting at Kabul University. Gunmen entered this prestigious University, which was once filled with wise and hopeful students, but is now tainted by their blood. The students impacted had their education taken away from them in non-humane ways.
Our fundraiser was able to raise $5664.00 CAD in ONE day, in order to help those affected by the recent attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Our project has now been completed on both ends of the globe and we were able to help 57 families in total! As the project focused on two specific attacks the funds were split between the two. $5000.00 in Afghan currency was distributed to each family. 20 families from the bombing of the education centre and 37 families from the University of Kabul attack were provided with support.
FEED THE NEEDY
MakeAnImpact put together a paid raffle GIVEAWAY with a few small local businesses to Feed The Needy through Islamic Relief Canada!
Our fundraiser was able to surpass our goal and raise a total of $3736.00 CAD within 3 days! The funds were donated through Islamic Relief Canada towards hundreds of people that are considered chronically undernourished with the primary underlying cause being poverty.
We were able to contribute to feeding families in need, providing them with relief and comfort, while rewarding 3 of our donors with giveaway incentives!
BLACK EMPOWERMENT
MakeAnImpact decided it was time to shed some light on the #Blacklivesmatter movement! With black history month around the corner, we decided to initiate collaborations focusing on black empowerment!
Throughout the course of the climax of the black lives matter movement this past summer, the voices of the youth were overshadowed and left in the dark.
We put together a short educational video in collaboration with a few individuals to allow them to speak and highlight those voices, and to focus on the key matters that affect their daily lives.
In hopes of raising awareness towards black hair care and how it is unacceptable that it’s deemed unprofessional in certain work settings, a Hair Specialist provided some educational tips to raise awareness as well! Good hair is defined by health, not hair texture or skin colour and this collaboration focused on embracing ones natural self.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH BOXES
In honour of Black History month, we teamed up with a local black owned business to put forth an initiative in hopes of helping out the black community!
Treat boxes were available for preorder until February 15th and delivered on February 20th.
All proceeds collected through purchases went towards the Black Business and Professional Association Charity, providing support for our black community. The funds were donated to their general funds that helps assist them in meeting their operational needs and funding their core scholarships for black youth.

RAMADAN PROJECT: MASJID E AYESHA
With the holy month of Ramadan coming to an end, we partnered up with @azelefaofficial to donate hijabs to our local mosque!
Giving charity during the last few nights of Ramadan holds immense significance and is considered a highly meritorious act in the Islamic faith, as they are believed to be the most blessed nights of the year, offering an opportunity for believers to seek forgiveness, blessings, and mercy.
In this wholesome experience we were able to distribute over one hundred hijabs to Muslim women, as our way of giving back to the community!
